If you are a new Boxer owner or are looking for gifts to buy for a Boxer owner, I have complied a list of the best dog products for this lovely dog.
Boxer dog sweaters
The reason I choose sweaters for boxer as one of the products to be featured is because boxer cold tolerance is weak in general. They are indoor dogs that live well between the temperature range of 65 to 85 F. Although a boxer’s cold tolerance will eventually vary according to individual dogs, it is always good to be prepared.
In this case, it will be getting nice warm boxer dog coats for winter. Here is one that I think is pretty nice and affordable:
Lesypet’s dog coats for boxer
Lesypet sweater is a hoodie design and looks really great. More importantly, it is fleece lined so it keeps the boxer really warm and cosy.
Besides being warm, the material is flexible enough that it is comfortable for the dog to wear. Some dogs I know, especially boxers, hate anything that is worn on them. However, this boxer dog sweater should be comfy enough for it not to resist too much when being required to wear it.
For the sizing, the chart provided by the company is accurate. There is no need to make any adjustments or you will end up getting the wrong size. The sweater does color bleed but not a lot so take note of this when you are washing the dog coat for your boxer.
Ugly boxer sweaters?
One thing I notice when I was doing research is that people were searching for ugly sweaters for boxers. I don’t even know what is the intention behind that search. Is it by people who are not boxer owners and think that they should get something ugly for this dog? Or is it by owners who know their dog isn’t the most pretty and just want to have some fun?
Best boxer harness
Being an active dog, it is common to see boxer dog pulling on leash or harness. Given that they are also strong dogs, a boxer owner can be swept off their feet when a boxer starts pulling or it might choke itself if you try to wrestle with it. This is where a non pull dog harness will come in handy. I already reviewed some pretty good options when I talked about the best non pull harness for Husky so the recommendations still applies here. You can click the link if you want a more detailed review. Otherwise, I will talk briefly about it here.
The best reviewed option is the Freedom no pull harness by Wigglers Wags Whiskers. It transfers the stress of the pull to the dog’s shoulder area effectively and doesn’t’ choke the dog or pull the owner off the feet. The best feature, though is that the dog can immediately turn around and returns to your side after it senses the stress of the pull on its body. In this way, it is being trained that the only way not to feel this stress is to walk by your side. On the right is a picture of the product as worn on a Husky. If this harness can tame a Husky, it can tame a boxer.
Best boxer dog muzzle
Muzzles are not necessarily my favorite dog product as I don’t like the idea of my pet not being able to move their jaws. However, if your boxer won’t stop barking at you or anyone else, it might be time to consider getting one.
When choosing muzzles for boxers, be aware of their short snouts. Most muzzles tend to be too long and cover the noses of the boxers which will irritate them to no end.
Bearing this in mind, I am recommending this metal dog muzzle from a vendor called Dogs My Love on Amazon. It is built specially for dogs with shorter snouts like the boxer. It measures 13″ in circumference with a length of 3″ (if we measure from the tip of the nose to the eyeline).
The muzzle allows the boxer to breath comfortably while maintaining control over their barking. In fact I notice most boxer owner use this beyond keeping their boxers quiet. Some of them used it to prevent their boxer from chewing on furniture while others use it to keep them from biting when being taken to a vet or a dog groomer.
One thing I feel that can be improved on is the strap. Currently, there is one that goes around the head of the boxer and keeps it secure. This is ok for most boxers but if yours is a really aggressive one, it might be able to shake that thing off. If the company can add one more strap that goes on top of the head then this dog muzzle will be perfect for boxers.
Dog beds for boxer
Finally, we come to the last item on the list and that is a dog bed. Boxers are powerful chewers so your dog bed must be expected to withstand such abuse. I have previously written a review on the best chew proof dog bed for Labrador Retriever which I think is relevant here.
Basically, the brand is Kuranda dog bed. I recommended it as its patented design makes it near impossible for the dog to chew at the seam and take the whole thing apart. In addition, the use of mesh rather than cotton and other chewable materials makes it less difficult for your boxer to go through this bed.
Another nice thing is that the Kuranda bed will not get warm even if the dog lies in it for the whole day. So, this makes them want to use the bed more and spend less time on your own bed!
Conclusion
I hope this list is sufficient for you to start your boxer dog product hunting. By highlighting brands which I feel is suited for the characteristic of a boxer, I think your pet dog will definitely love the products mentioned here.
