When a dog loses its legs, it is always going to be a sad day for both the pet and the dog owner. Fortunately, wheelchairs are now available to improve the life of disabled dogs.  In this article, we are reviewing what is the best wheelchair for Corgi specifically. So, if you are a Corgi owner who wants to improve the life of your disabled pet, this article will be useful for you.

Downside of being disabled

Disability for dogs is more than just the lost of their legs and mobility. There are a bunch of other negative side effects that a pet owner should be aware of.

One, they lost the ability to position themselves for peeing or pooing. As a result, the dog might refuse to relief themselves and that in turn, will cause bladder problems.

Second, it will affect their mental health as well. It is no usual to see disable dogs becoming depressed and not responding to you as well as it did in the past.

Finally, pet owner may start to view their disabled dog as a liability and distance themselves gradually. Eventually, the dog might even be abandoned for extreme cases.

What to look for in

  • Size: It is very important to get the right size wheelchair. Some models are too big for a dog breed like Corgi so pay attention to its dimenions
  • Allows the dog to pee
  • Light weight: Again, very important so that your Corgi don’t have to spend too much strength dragging the wheelchair around .

Best Friend Mobility wheelchair for dogs review

best wheelchair for CorgiAs I was looking through all the reviews, I paid attention to those that came from Corgi owners specifically. This will let me know if the wheelchairs for this breed.

That was how I found the Best Friend Mobility wheelchair.  It is light weight and allows the Corgi to pee easily.  The important thing to get your Corgi to love it is the settings. You need to adjust the wheelchair until it fits comfortably or else the dog wouldn’t use it. I have seen many customer on Amazon saying that their dogs did not take to this. I suspect it is the settings problem.

If you got it correct, your Corgi will be able to run and stand as per normal. They will love their new found freedom even though the beginning might be awkward.

Despite the positive reviews, there are somethings that can be improved. For one, there is a lack of clear instructions on how to put this wheelchair together. Although it is not rocket science, you do need to spend some time figuring out what goes where.

Another potential problem is that the wheelchair doesn’t allow the dog to lie down comfortably. If your Corgi has back problems, this might present a tricky situation for the dog.

Conclusion

Despite its problems, the Best Friend Mobility wheelchair is still one for best option for disabled Corgi. Although it is difficult to assemble due to the lack of instructions, your Corgi will love to use it if you used the right settings and adjustment.
