Want some clothes for your puppy but don’t want to spend money on brand new puppy clothing? Since puppies grow very quickly, a great idea is for you to make puppy clothes from old clothes. One way to do this is to cut off the sleeves of an old sweater then gauge the size of the dog. You can then go ahead to cut openings for the legs and tail going by the size of your dog.

If you decide to make use of your old t-shirts to make clothes for your puppy, settle for one whose neck is almost the size of your puppy’s so that it fits in snuggly without you having to make any adjustments. Be sure to be on the lookout so that you do not end up end up stifling the air supply of your puppy by dressing him up in one with a tight fitting neck line.

Take the measurements of the dog so that you can then cut out the t-shirt to fit it well. Once you are certain that the measurements are a good fit you can then stitch the t-shirt along the parts that you have made adjustments by cutting.

You will also be able to make puppy clothes with your kids’ old t-shirts and finding one that has a fitting neckline will make the job much easier as well. Remember that you do not have to force on clothes on your puppy but also keep the length of the clothes that you make for your puppy up to the torso. Old baby clothes make great puppy clothes since they are small like the pup, which means less sewing on your part.

Remember that much as you want your dog to look fashionable it is important that he is comfortable in the clothes that you make for him.

Anything from old sweaters to shirts and jeans or even socks can be used with some adjustment to serve as clothing for your puppy. It will be great fun for you to fashion your puppy’s clothing with the use of your old clothes or those of your kids’ as well. Plus, the clothing will comfort the pup as it will have your scent or those of your family members on it. This can be a great help when trying to get the pup to sleep by itself through the night.
