I have been reviewing dog beds by their breeds to better find the ones that best suits a particular dog type. You can check out the dog bed reviews via the link. In the course of doing so, I realise I have spent a lot of hours going through each dog bed and am now quite knowledgeable in the different models. Incidentally, it also happens that the different dog breeds I have covered includes big (Collie), middle (Labrador Retriever) and small (Dachshund) dogs. Hence, why not put all these information I have into a blog post that recommends the best dog bed according to the size of the dogs?
Best dog bed for big dogs
If you happen to own a big dog like Collie, you will need a strong dog bed like this one from Gale Pacific that can support up to 100 pounds of weight. The mesh material also makes it comfortable for the dog as it is cool during summer and warm during winter.
The best part however is that there is no stuffing for the big dogs to chew on. The cotton from the stuff is terrible for a dog’s stomach so the best way to avoid any incident is not to buy any dog bed that has stuffing it. This is especially important for a big dog as they have more powerful jaws that can rip apart the zippers of most cotton stuffed dog bed.

Dog bed for middle dogs
Mid sized dogs are always the most difficult to chose products for as they are neither here nor there. In my article on the best dog bed for Labrador Retriever, which is a middle sized dog, I recommended Kuranda’s dog bed as it is chew proof. The magic comes from their patented design that hides the edges of the fabric into the bed structure such that it is not accessible to the dogs.
It is also pretty sturdy and can support the weight of a mid sized dog. If your dog doesn’t have a chewing behavior, you can also consider getting the large version of the next bed that I am going to feature below.
Finally, best dog bed for small dogs?
Small dogs like dachshund and chiwawa typically like to burrow so a dog bed like cave bed from Snoozer is perfect. It is comfortable inside and have plenty of room for the small dogs to indulge in some harmless burrowing. You rather let them do their thing inside the bed instead of your garden or trash can!
There are three sizes available for this model. If you have two to three small dogs that you like them to sleep in the bed, go for the largest available size. There is a tent like structure supporting the front of the dog bed so that it is always open and you can sneak a quick peek inside to see what your dogs are doing.
Be aware though. You might lost your dog forever inside there!
To conclude, these are some of the best dog beds in the market. Each caters for different types of dogs so make sure to pick one that best suits the behavior of your pet.
